If so, consider me fully smitten. If you’ve ever bought a melon or a pumpkin in America, chances are you are my customer. Harvard Business School used one of my first major deals as a case study in the art of negotiation. In recent years I’ve enjoyed expanding our agribusiness into the beverage and consumer packaged goods markets. My company, which has its headquarters down the road from my childhood and current home in a tiny Illinois town called Orchardville, manages thousands of acres of farmland coast to coast. I’m the CEO-or, my preferred title, the founding farmer-of Frey Farms, which sells, among other things, tens of millions of pumpkins and watermelons a year. In 2016, The New York Times dubbed Sarah Frey “America’s Pumpkin Queen” because her company, Frey Farms, sells more pumpkins than any other producer in the United States. I especially enjoyed the Lois and Clark scenes - of course! I felt like the illustrations only vaguely reminded me of the characters/actors but the dialogue was almost spot on. I feel totally biased reviewing this as I was thrilled to get even a small taste of the story after the finale - (I rewatched the last three seasons recently). I (unseccessfully) tried to get years ago when it was first published, so this was my chance. Warning: prepare for total nerdiness and obvious attachment issues over an old favorite TV show I still refuse to let go of!Īs a huge fan of the series when it was airing (and still rewatching it whenever I feel like it), I instantly picked this up when I found it staring at me at the Barnes and Noble comic book section a couple of weeks ago. After breaking up with her boyfriend of over three years, she decides to try and live life on the casual side. Allie is a nester, she has boyfriends, not boy toys. His love interest is not Sabrina as was speculated, but Allie Hayes, roommate and BFF of Garret’s girlfriend, Hannah. Women basically throw themselves at his feet genitals. He oozes sex-appeal and is completely unapologetic about it. I think paid porn stars have less sex than Dean. Still, with that kind of charmed life, you knew going in that something big was coming to bring him down. He doesn’t come off as the spoiled brat many around him choose to accuse him of being. He’s generally an optimistic person though, and I was inclined to like him. He comes from old money, has not had much in the way of obstacles that he couldn’t charm or buy his way out of in life, and is therefore less relatable for the average reader. Author Elle Kennedy is quickly developing an avid fan base for her new adult Off-Campus series, and I may have to count myself among them- memes, gifs, and all.įor this reason, I had a tough time giving The Score, book three in the Off-Campus series, a rating because it’s not my favorite in the series, although I still liked it very much.ĭean Heywood Di-Laurentis is not as sympathetic of a character as hockey teammates Garret ( The Deal) and Logan ( The Mistake). Chapters are not written to surprise the reader. In such a world of stories, it is only appropriate that Fikry and the woman who becomes his second wife-a publisher’s representative- bond over a book they both love even though it has not sold well. While some of these notes are short reviews, others qualify more as personal memos to his daughter and wife, indicating the possible significance of certain stories for their lives. The main story is leavened by book talk: books for Maya, for different customers, for flourishing book clubs, and Fikry’s “shelf notes” on certain titles, which serve as interchapters. So she leaves Maya, drowns herself, and thus the story of one man’s awakening and a child’s growth begins.
